The kitchen is the heart of the home so choosing the correct worktop is essential especially if the kitchen is used every day. Over the last few years, worktop materials have changed; all budgets are catered for as a wide range of materials is available.
Worktops are available at various price points from cheaper laminates to more expensive granites. Generally, the cheaper laminates don’t last as long as more durable granite worktops.
One way of reducing the cost of your worktop installation is to mix and match the surfaces used. Putting panels of more expensive stone in harder working areas and then using laminate for everything else will look on-trend while being budget-friendly.
One option is to use Corian solid surface which is available in many different styles and colours. Corian material is non-porous and easy to clean making it a practical home kitchen surface which is also visually appealing. They are also incredibly hygienic and naturally resistant to mould. All of this is also backed by a limited 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Corian can also be matched with more traditional kitchen worktops due to the many designs and styles available. Originally introduced in 1967, Corian is the original solid surface material. Corian is part of the Dupont brand which was established in the 1800s.
Another popular brand of kitchen worktop is Hanex which, like the Corian worktops, are durable and can be cleaned easily. Hanex can take the abuse often associated with working in a kitchen and can tolerate a fair amount of heat. The worktop is also highly resistant to staining but anything should be wiped up as soon as it’s spilt.
